Project Overview
The small decks at the rear of this home were rotting and covered in algae. Working closely with the client to maximize quality within budget, CRC Builders used Ipe decking and joist wrap to create a durable, smooth-to-the-touch, and weather-resistant structure. Finished with composite trim, this deck was designed to withstand the elements and remain beautiful for decades—built to last at least 50 years.
Ipe is one of the most durable hardwoods available, naturally resistant to rot, insects, and weather damage. Its dense grain provides exceptional strength while maintaining a smooth, splinter-free surface that's comfortable underfoot. The addition of joist wrap further protects the structural elements from moisture damage.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful material selection can deliver exceptional value. While Ipe represents a higher initial investment, its 50+ year lifespan and minimal maintenance requirements make it one of the most cost-effective decking choices over time.
